Applying for College
We know applying for college can be one of the most stressful parts of the whole process. So we have included a couple of tips to make your life a little easier, as well as some useful information to help you through the process.
Get organized-
Organization is a huge factor in making the application process run smoothly. You will be applying to numerous colleges that will ask you for a lot of information and it may become overwhelming at times as well as get repetitive. Organization is the key to making the right decision for you. There are plenty of tools available to you to help you get and stay organized. One very good way to get and stay organized is by creating a college application checklist.
Keep the List Small-
We all know that the application process for college is stressful enough, so you do not want to overwhelm yourself even more by applying to too many schools. Keep your list small, applying to five to eight schools is plenty.
It is natural for a student to want to apply to as many colleges as possible. Some people feel if they apply to a high number of schools then they are bound to get accepted somewhere. This may be true to an extent, but this might prevent you from going to the college that is perfect for you. The school you go to should match your criteria for everything you want in an education from programs offered, to location and housing. The college search process is not an easy one. It is challenging to create a list of schools that appeal to you in terms of size, location, programs offered, and so on.
You should have very good reasons for applying to the schools on your list. Each school should be well researched and only considered if the student truly can see themselves attending school there. Each student should complete self assessments to identify their main three or four criteria for a school. The student should come up with the three or four most important things they are looking for in a college, and only schools that meet the criteria should be considered.
